This Silk Road tour will start in Beijing and end in Beijing as well. During the trip, we will visit Xian, Lanzhou, Jiayuguan Pass, Dunhuang, Turpan, Urumqi, and karshga. This tour arrangement will present you a complete picture of the Silk Road between China and Xijiang as well as Uighur Muslim culture and lifestyle.
Days 1 Arrive in Beijing
You will arrive in Beijing, China’s capital city. Our representative will greet you at Beijing Airport and transfer you to our hotel. Free for rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2: Beijing (AB, L D)
Today we will visit the Great Wall and Temple of Heaven. Enjoy a fascinating Chinese Kungfu show for the evening entertainment.
Day 3: Beijing – Xian (AB, L D)
Sightseeing today includes a stroll through Tiananmen Square, past Chairman Mao’s Mausoleum to the treasure-filled Forbidden City. We also tour the exquisite Summer Palace before boarding an evening flight to the former ancient capital of Xian. Transfer and check into our hotel in Xian.
Day 4: Xian (AB, L, SD)
This morning we will visit Shangxi History Museum. Afterwards, we’ll visit the Big Goose Pagoda and Ancient City Wall of Xian. We will have a Chinese Dumpling dinner followed by Tang Dynasty Show for the evening.
Day 5: Xian – Lanzhou (AB, L, D)
This morning we will visit one of the most important archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the Terracotta Warriors. Return to the city, and visit Muslim Quarter to experience Chinese Muslim and their food market. Take a late afternoon flight to Lanzhou, the important gateway city on Silk Road. Upon arrival at Lanzhou Airport, we’ll transfer to our hotel in Lanzhou.
Day 6: Lanzhou – Liujiaxia Reservoir (AB, L, D)
Today we will drive to Liujiaxia Reservoir. Take a speedboat on picturesque Lioujiaxia Lake to visit the renowned Bingling Caves. Return to Lanzhou in the evening.
Day 7: Lanzhou – Jiayuguan (AB, L, D)
Today we will stroll through the park by the Yellow River, visit the Baita (White) Temple. Taste the local hand-stretched noodles. Take an evening train to Jiayuguan.
Day 8: Jiayuguan (B, L, D)
Arrive in Jiayuguan in the morning. Transfer to our hotel. After short break, we will drive to visit Jiayuguan Fortress and walk along the western end of the Great Wall.
Day 9: Jiayuguan – Dunhuang (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, we will drive to Dunhuang. Check into our hotel. After lunch, we will visit Crescent Moon Spring and see the spectacular Singing Sand Dunes.
Day 10: Dunhuang – Turpan (AB, L, D)
Today we will visit the world famous Buddhist murals and sculptures of the Mogao Grottoes. Later, board the overnight train to Turpan in Xinjiang Province.
Day 11: Turpan (AB, L, D)
We will arrive in Turpan in the morning. Visit the ancient ruins of Jiaohe city, Goacheng City Ruins, Flaming Mountain, and Grape Valley. Overnight in Turpan.
Day 12: Turpan – Urumqi (AB, L, D)
We will drive to Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Check into our hotel in Urumqi. Visit the Provincial Museum in Urumqi in the afternoon. Enjoy a Uygur singing and dancing performance for the evening entertainment (depends on availability).
Day 13: Urumqi (AB, L, D)
Today we visit Heaven’s Lake and the surrounding Tianshan Mountains before visiting a home of a local Uygur family. We will also visit the city’s Great Bazaar to experience the lifestyle of local people.
Day 14: Urumqi-Kashgar (AB, L, D)
Today we will take a flight to Kashgar. Upon arrival, we will begin our trip. Visit the Idkh mosque, handicrafts street and Old town of Kashgar. Overnight in Kashgar.
Day 15: Kashgar-Karaku lake-Kashgar (AB, L, D)
Today we drive to Karakul Lake along the Karakoram high way. On the way, we will also visit the Bulunkou sand dune .Return to Kashgar for the night.
Day 16: Kashgar – Urumqi (AB, L, D)
Full day sightseeing in kashgar. Today we will visit the Sunday market and livestock market and tombs of Abak Hojia. Catch a late afternoon flight to Urumqi. Overnight in Urumqi
Day 17: Urumqi – Beijing (AB)
After breakfast, we will take a flight to Beijing for our home flight.
